While the national average number of male physicians per 100 thousand male population is 350, the national average number of female physicians per 100 thousand female population is 69, indicating that the number of female physicians is still small.

Practicing Physicians.
Firstly, although the number of male physicians is high in Kyushu, there are many prefectures in Kyushu in which the number of female physicians falls below the national average. On the other hand, Tokyo stands out with 126 female physicans per 100 thousand female population. This is 3.3 times that of Aomori, ranked last, with only 38 female physicians per 100 thousand female population. It is also 1.2 times that of Kyoto, ranked second (101).
